Zig Zag: A Walk Through Time
A Walk Through Time is a unit of the BBC Schools TV series Zig Zag and Primary History from the 1990s & 2000s, covering history for primary school pupils.
A look at a British town developing over thousands of years of history. Tony Robinson sits on a bench in a computer-animated town, describing and pointing out the differences while the town changes through history from the Roman period, the Anglo-Saxons, the Tudors, the Victorians, the 1950s and the present-day at the turn of the 21st Century.
Primary History
From 2003 this unit was repeated as part of the new series Primary History, with amended opening titles but otherwise intact.
Awards
This unit won the Royal Television Society Educational Television Award for Primary Arts & Humanities programmes in 1999.
Programme 1 was awarded the Hoso Bunka Foundation Special Prize at the Japan Prize International Educational Programme Contest in 2000, with a citation as "an excellent attempt at takin advantage of multi-media and which offers a new angle on educational broadcasting."
