Zig Zag: Wildlife Safari
Wildlife Safari is a unit of the BBC Schools TV series Zig Zag from the 1980s & 1990s, covering nature for primary school pupils.
A look at animal behaviour in different ways, with regular presenters Sheelagh and Paul joined by animal expert Nick Davies, and helped by film from the BBC's natural history archives including the David Attenborough series Life on Earth. Animals behaviours are linked to human behaviours, such as the number of people who need to be in the Zig Zag studio to make the programme, linked to animals working together.
A teacher's programme, and two additional regular episodes with Nick Davies on location, were added in 1991. Subsequent repeats each consisted of between 4 and 8 episodes selected from this unit, and the full run of 10 (9 for pupils + 1 for teachers) was only ever broadcast continuously in 1991.
