Zig Zag Shorts is a BBC Schools TV series from the 2000s, covering geography for primary school pupils.

An exploration of four regions of contemporary France. These shorter programmes were drawn from the France unit of Zig Zag.

From 1999 selected units from the BBC's primary school geography series Landmarks and Zig Zag, usually 20 minutes long, were re-edited into shorter 10 minute programmes of selected highlights for easier use in busy schools. Two units of Landmarks Shorts were made, but just the one Zig Zag unit on France was reduced into this Zig Zag Shorts series

From 2002 the Shorts programmes were incorporated into the new series Primary Geography, with new opening titles, and repeated for a further five years. More of this format of shorter, 10 minute programmes were made for Primary Geography as it went on.

The episodes were produced and envisaged in the order set out above, matching the running order of the original Zig Zag: France programmes, but as can be noted from the dates they were not actually shown in that order on the first transmission. Subsequent repeats restored more of the intended order so that by summer 2002 most repeat runs (at least those which included all 5 episodes) were in this order.
