English Study Texts is a BBC schools radio series from the 1990s, covering English for secondary school pupils.

  • replaced Books, Plays, Poems
  • dramatisations of novels and plays that are popular in GCSE and Standard Grade syllabuses, each in four half hour episodes, plus a fifth introductory episode.
  • Autumn 1991: Under Goliath by Peter Carter & Billy Liar by Keith Waterhouse
  • Spring 1992: Golden Apples of the Sun by Ray Bradbury & Macbeth by William Shakespeare
  • Autumn 1992: Lamb by Bernard MacLaverty & The Friends by Rosa Guy
  • Spring 1993: Hobson's Choice by Harold Brighouse & Come to Mecca by Farrukh Dhondy (3 episode drama + introduction)
