World of Figures
World of Figures is an ITV schools TV series from the 1950s, covering Mathematics for secondary school pupils.
The first schools TV programme dedicated to maths, focussing on how vital calculations are in modern life. Subjects covered include surveying, navigation and calculating machines using base 2. The final programme summarised the series and covered the launch of the first ever man-made satellite, Sputnik 1, which took place during the term.
