The Farming Year is an ITV schools TV series from the 1950s and 1960s, covering Agriculture for secondary school pupils.
- following Waydale Farm at Little Brington, Northampton, and the farmer Evan Davies
- originally broadcast as 27 episodes during 1957-58, filmed during the year so that the teacher's notes had to warn that weather conditions may cause the planned order of episodes to be changed
- re-edited as 18 episodes, shown during 1960-61
- also broadcast late in the evening for adults by Associated-Rediffusion: the summer 1958 programmes were broadcast on Mondays at 11pm three weeks after each schools transmission, and then all 18 of the re-edited episodes were broadcast after 11pm on Thursdays from April to August 1962
