Famous People is a unit of the Channel 4 Schools series Stop, Look, Listen from the 1990s & 2000s, covering history for primary school pupils.

Profiles of five famous historical figures. Key moments in their lives are dramatised in a stylised way against illustrated backdrops, while the presenter tells their stories, then finds a link to the past by exploring places or artefacts related to the person.

Five further figures were introduced in the follow-up unit, Famous People 2.

Resources

There were teacher's notes and an activity book available.

The unit was released to schools on video. Later it was released on DVD alongside Famous People 2.

The two episodes on George Stevenson and Mary Seacole were also included on the DVD Famous Victorians alongside the series Victorian Scots and the Eureka! unit A Victorian Diary.

A series of story books telling the stories of each of the five people featured in the unit was also released. The book series was later expanded to include at least 16 more famous people including those from the follow-up unit Famous People 2.
