A West Indies banana plantation is seen being established with the plants sown, tended and watered from above. The crop is harvested and washed, floating in large tanks, then packed and taken to the docks where they set sail for England.

8. Boats and Boating (1985)

A picture of a modern 1980s fibreglass motor boat is revealed to be hanging on the wall of a boat designer, who is drawing a new one.

In the workshop a large mould is prepared and fibreglass and resin sprayed inside. Once the shell has hardened it is taken to another workshop where wooden supports and windows are installed. Special furniture is made and the engine and controls are installed. Once the boat has been assembled it is taken out for a test run on the water.

  • This episode was billed as just Boats for some of its later repeats, but I don't believe it was re-made again.
  • Stop, Look, Listen also made separate boat-related programmes about Canal Boats, Lifeboatmen and Thames Barges
