Stop, Look, Listen: 1981-82
Details of 1981-82 broadcasts of the ITV Schools series Stop, Look, Listen, covering topics for primary school pupils.
8 new episodes were shown in 1981-82, all of them updated versions of existing programmes on the topic of people who help us.
These episodes introduced the traffic light face opening titles, and continued to use the High Life theme tune which had been introduced in 1978.
1981-82 was the 6th of 26 years of new broadcasts, and the 11th of 38 years overall, for Stop, Look, Listen.
8 of the 28 episodes broadcast this year were new, and the episodes first broadcast this year were repeated until 1987.

# - The summer term schedule changed quite a bit from the original plans published in the teacher's notes. The entire term was moved forward by a week so that schools broadcasts were finished in late June, before broadcasts of the World Cup started in early July. Then ITV scheduled coverage of The Pope in Britain on Friday 28th May and so the Friday schools broadcasts in the first five weeks of term were moved forward by a further week. For Stop, Look, Listen, the Friday broadcasts therefore took place before the Wednesday broadcasts for the first half of the summer term. So for example the episode Summer and Winter which had been scheduled for Wednesday 5th & Friday 7th May 1982 was actually broadcast on Friday 23rd & Wednesday 28th April as listed above.

2. Ambulance (1981)
Steve and Pat, the crew of ambulance 207, check their equipment and wait in the ambulance rest room. They are dispatched to answer a 999 call from a girl whose brother has fallen down the stairs at home and bumped his head.
When they arrive they use an inflatable splint and make sure they boy in comfortable and then take him to hospital and check him in.

7. Butcher (1981)
Butcher John Lashford is getting his butchers shop ready for the day: taking meat from the cold store, pricing it up for sale and sharpening the knives. He makes some sausages and minces some beef.
When the shop opens he weighs out meat for a customer, takes the payment and gives change. At the end of the day the meat is stored away again and the shop is thoroughly cleaned.

8. Baker (1981)
Corn is harvested and ground, and a baker at The Droitwich Bakery mixes, proves and bakes his dough.
Large numbers of loaves are baked in commerical ovens at Bradford's Bakery then sliced and wrapped. Another baker is decorating Christmas cakes, and produces a special "Merry Christmas" cake which Chris Tarrant announces is "from Stop, Look Listen".
