Exploration and Encounters is a unit of the BBC Schools TV series Landmarks from the 1990s, covering history for primary school pupils.

Programmes about world civilisations of the 1400s, the Ming Dynasty in China, the Ottoman Empire, the Mayans and the Aztecs, and about the European explorers who visited them, broadcast for the 500th anniversary of the explorer Christopher Columbus's first voyage.

The unit includes a two-part drama about Christopher Columbus, which is covered in more detail on a separate page of this site.
