Citizenship (1943)
Citizenship (1943) is a BBC schools radio series from the 1940s and 1950s, covering citizenship for secondary school pupils.
Citizenship programmes were broadcast throughout the Second World War, beginning with If You Were French in summer 1940, and continuing with If I Were British, If You Were American and If You Were Chinese.
The single title of Citizenship was used from 1943, including further If You Were... units: If You Were a Child in the USA and If You Were a Child in Australia, and regular units for school leavers about starting work: When We Start Work, When We Started Work and Starting Work.
This general series was finally replaced by a specific careers series, The World of Work, in 1950.
